Why calibration accuracy matters and what can go wrong
A fuel station's calibration chart converts a stick reading or ATG measurement into a volume. An inaccurate chart means that the volume the operator records is wrong. The discrepancy accumulates into apparent fuel losses that cannot be explained — creating inventory disputes, regulatory problems and insurance claims that are difficult to resolve without a recalibration.
Calibration also matters for new tank installations: without an accurate chart, the ATG system cannot function correctly. Stations that start with the wrong chart carry the error through every inventory reconciliation until it is corrected.
We calibrate tanks using the correct measurement methodology for each tank type, produce charts in the format operators and regulators need, and issue the documentation required for compliance, insurance and ATG configuration purposes.

The calibration process
Site visit and tank assessment
We visit the site, inspect the tank and determine the calibration methodology required for its type, shape and configuration. We identify whether the tank is tilted, has sumps or other features that affect measurement.
Measurement
We measure the tank dimensions and internal geometry using the appropriate method. For horizontal cylindrical tanks this involves strapping; for irregular shapes we use incremental volume measurement. All measurements are recorded.
Chart calculation and production
We calculate the volume-to-depth relationship at each measurement interval and produce the calibration chart. Charts are verified before issue.
Documentation and handover
We issue the calibration chart and supporting compliance documents. Where the client is installing or configuring an ATG, we provide the data in the format the ATG system requires.
